FAQ

A few good
questions.

Clear answers about getting started, reward estimates, and your privacy.

Getting started

Is Points Points! really free?

Yes. Points Points! is always free to use. No subscription or in-app purchases are required. Ever.

How will Points Points! make money?

We plan to earn money through referrals using affiliate networks and partnerships. If you choose a qualifying partner link, we may earn a commission. Affiliate compensation and partnerships never influence which credit cards we recommend or how we rank them. Points Points! remains always free to use.

Do I need an account or bank connection?

No Points Points! account or bank login is required. Choose the card products you own by name. You don’t need to provide card numbers, CVVs, expiration dates, or a transaction-history connection.

Where can I get the app?

Points Points! is built for iPhone. Visit the Get the app page for the current download availability.

Which cards and programs are supported?

Browse the available card products and loyalty programs inside the app. Support depends on the current rules catalog; a card’s presence doesn’t mean every possible benefit or purchase is covered.

Can it work without an internet connection?

Personalized reward calculations use the valid rules available on your device. Updated rules, maps, external links, and some optional services may require a connection.

Location & notifications

How do arrival recommendations work?

With automatic recommendations enabled and the required permissions, the app can use arrival context to identify a supported nearby place and compare your eligible cards on your iPhone. When there’s enough confidence, a local notification shows the suggested card on your Lock Screen. Tap it to see the recommendation and explanation.

What permissions do I need?

Allow notifications and enable automatic recommendations in the app. Background arrival alerts require Always location access. Foreground Nearby can use location while the app is open. You can manage permissions in iOS Settings and the automatic recommendation setting in Current Location.

Will I get an alert every time I enter a store?

Not necessarily. Alerts depend on supported places, confidence in the location, your eligible cards, and iOS background delivery. If the place is unclear, use Nearby to choose it or Search to check a purchase yourself.

Can I use the app without location or notifications?

Yes. Arrival alerts are optional. You can use Search to compare a store or purchase category without enabling location or notifications. You still choose which card to pay with.

Is there a Lock Screen widget?

Yes. Add the circular Best Card Here widget from Points Points! to your iPhone Lock Screen. It shows a compact card label when a recommendation or everyday default is available. Tap it to open Points Points! and check nearby.

Does the widget always show a live recommendation?

iOS controls widget refresh timing. The widget may show a last-known recommendation, an everyday default that is not place-specific, or an Open prompt when no card is available. Tap it to open the app for a nearby check. Arrival notifications are a separate feature and require the permissions described above.

Is my location sent to usage analytics?

Location and notification activity are excluded from the app’s limited usage analytics. Optional location and map features may send Apple the information needed to provide those services. Read the location and permissions details. Turning usage analytics off does not turn off arrival recommendations.

Rewards & recommendations

Are reward values guaranteed?

No. They are estimates based on earning rules, point valuations, eligibility, and the information available. Actual rewards depend on issuer terms, merchant coding, caps, and redemption choices. Verify important details with your issuer.

How do I set goals for a more personal experience?

Open Wallet → Goals & Benefits, add a supported goal, and choose the one you want to use for recommendations. Add your program preferences and point valuations to make comparisons more personal.

You can give your goal a personal name, pin it to Overview, and record progress manually. Pinning controls what you see on Overview; the active goal is the one relevant recommendations consider. Goals are optional. Recommendations still account for reward rules, eligibility, and the information available. Progress you enter is recorded manually; it is not linked to your loyalty account.

Follow the goal setup steps.

Can I change what my points are worth?

Yes. Supported personal valuation preferences can change how estimated rewards compare. A personal valuation doesn’t change the issuer’s redemption rules or the value you actually receive.

Does a benefit apply automatically?

Not necessarily. Benefits may require enrollment, a specific provider or billing path, qualifying purchases, or unused allowance. Confirm these details with your issuer before relying on a credit.

Does it switch my Apple Pay card or change subscriptions?

No. You choose the payment card yourself. Comparing a subscription scenario does not change your plan, billing settings, or payment method.

Privacy & your data

Do you collect my personal information or rewards data?

We don’t collect your name, email address, mailing address, payment credentials, or personal wallet and rewards data. Your card selections, loyalty balances, goals, and personalized reward calculations stay on your device. No Points Points! account or bank connection is required. We never sell your data because we don’t have your data.

The app’s optional limited usage analytics uses pseudonymous installation and activity information. Hosting and optional third-party services can receive ordinary connection information. See our privacy policy for the full details and controls.

Where does my wallet profile live?

Your selected card products, program preferences, and personalized reward calculations live on your device. The app doesn’t need a bank connection or your payment credentials.

Does this website track me?

This website includes no tracking analytics, advertising scripts, tracking cookies, or sign-up forms. When hosted on GitHub Pages, GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security. See the website privacy details.

What about app usage analytics?

The app includes a limited usage-analytics setting in Wallet → Privacy & Data. When enabled and configured, it can send limited activity and installation metadata to PostHog. It excludes wallet contents and financial calculations. Read the app analytics details to see what is sent and how to turn it off.

Can I control optional permissions and delete local data?

Use iOS Settings to manage location and notification permissions. The app’s Wallet → Privacy & Data section provides local profile deletion and analytics controls. Device backup settings and third-party services have separate retention behavior.
